Abandoned

I was cold and scared. I didn’t know what to do. I was lost, in the middle of nowhere! My past was totally forgotten. I didn’t remember anything. Not even my own name. This was the worst day of my life. Little did I know that it was going to get a lot worse.

All I needed was a way to get back to town, but the problem was that I didn’t know where the town was. All I knew was that I had to get back. I looked everywhere but I couldn’t find any people. I started walking through a forest and I eventually found a road. It was a small gravel road, but there were people driving on it.

I was walking down the gravel road when I saw a sign. My first though was that if there is a sign, there must be a town close by. I read the sign and it said that there was a hotel about two miles down the road. The hotel might not even be there anymore, but I didn’t have a choice to go see if it was.

The minutes felt like hours, but I finally made it to the hotel. It was still standing, but it looked like it wasn’t going to be standing for much longer. The whole thing seemed to be falling apart. The floor boards were cracked and wore down, the roof had so many holes and it seemed to be caving in. When you walked inside, it made the outside look like a mansion. The inside was disgusting. The floor was falling apart and there were so many boards missing, you couldn’t even call it a floor anymore. The walls were all water stained and moldy and the floral wallpaper was peeling off. It looked abandoned, but it wasn’t. a little old lady came out into the lobby.

She made me think of a living skeleton because she was so small and frail. She looked at me and her eyes got wide and a huge smile crept onto her face. She reminded me of someone, but I didn’t know whom. She came up to me but she could tell I was a little frightened because I had no idea what was going on.

“would you like a room ma’am?” she asked.

I just stood there with a confused expression. Seems she has an accent, I think it is Irish. Was I in Ireland? Hmm… I was standing there thinking about where I was in Ireland when I heard her say something

“ma’am, would you like a room?” she asked again, this time she was a wee bit more curious

“I… umm… yes I would like a room… but sadly, I have no money to pay for it.” I replied quietly

“oh, well where do you come from?” she asked

“I don’t know, in fact, I don’t know anything about my past.” I said with a somewhat upset tone in my voice

“well, you look like you need a washing… it is getting late, I will give you a room for tonight… on the house.” She said genuinely

“Thank you, I really appreciate it.” I said with a fake half smile

“You will be staying in room 13, but I must warn you, room 13 is a very strange room. If I had a choice I wouldn’t give it to you, but it’s the only stabile room in this hotel”

I walked away with a curious mind. What is so wrong with room 13? Why is this place so abandoned? Why was this lady to worried to tell me about that room? Looks like I’m about to find out.

I was walking down the hallway, carefully taking small footsteps so I didn’t fall through the floor. I eventually came up to room 13, I wondered why it was such a bad room. I opened the door and my jaw fell to the floor. The room was magnificent, it was so different from the other parts of the hotel.

This room was clean and organized, and it didn’t look like it was rotten. It looked like a queen use to live in this room, but what was so bad with it? The lady was right, it is getting really late. I was heading off to bed when I heard a strange noise. It sounded like a name, sort of like whatever made that noise said “Myra” but I could barely hear it. Probably just my imagination, I got into bed and was out like a rock.

The next morning was crazy. I woke up and everything was on the floor. I walked down stairs to see if the lady when into my room last night while I was sleeping and threw everything on the ground, but the lady was no where to be found. I was alone. I walked into the lobby and there was a little girl.

I said hello to the girl but she didn’t see to hear me. She was really pale, ghostly pale. I walked up to her to ask her if she was lost, but I guess she noticed me coming over

“get out of here while you still can.” she said in a whisper

the whisper sounded familiar, could she be the one who whispered that name in my room last night and the one who knocked all that stuff onto the ground while I was sleeping

“hello Myra.” She said when I wasn’t paying attention. “you really shouldn’t be here, my name is Agatha, and I’m 7, I was born in 1782 and I died in 1789, but I don’t know how”

     “your dead?!?!” I almost shouted

“yes and I’m here to warn you, this place is a danger, to many bad thing are here, to many evil spirits”

“how long have you been here?” I asked

“about 230 years, give or take a few years.” She replied casually

     “wow, why didn’t you leave?”

“I cant” she replied sadly “you see, when you die you forget your entire past and you cant leave the place you were killed until you find out the cause of your death”

I saw shocked at all of the stuff she just said. I had no idea that all of that is really true. How am I actually able to talk to ghosts. That’s awesome and crazy at the same time.

"This is honestly to crazy to be fake. well is there anything that you can tell me about helping me get home and to get out of this house?" i was really hoping she knew something.

"yes, as a matter of fact i do. people get lost here all the time, i use to always try and tell them about how to get out but they couldn't see me or hear me, but you can." she seemed a little happy about finally having someone to talk to.

"well how to i get out?" i asked

"Why would you want to go back? Your parents left you out here. Not because the didn't want you, it was because they were afraid of you."

They were afraid of me? Why would that be true, I would never do anything to scare them. I really hope she is joking. I dont even remember them but there my parents. Now im really confused.

     To be continued...
