What is a common noun?

a person, place, or thing that is general (not specific)

 

What is a Proper Noun?

a specific name of a person, place or thing

 

What are some examples of each?

common---> dog, boy, building, car

Proper-----> Fido, Fred, Valley Community School, Chevy Lumina

 

Proper Nouns always start with capital letters while common nouns do not unless they start sentences!
