Quilt Crazy

There once was a girl named Millicent Margret. Millicent loved to quilt. She quilted all day everyday. Millicent quilted all types of quilts, fuzzy quilts, soft quilts, spiky quilts, colorful quilts, quilts made of Kleenexes, fur, paper, jeans, hair or anything she could find that was quilt-able. Millicent and her best friend, Helga Betty, shared the love of quilting. It was their life long love.

Millicent and Helga’s love started very early in life. When the two were out for recess as children, they would pick slivers of grass and quilt them together with whatever they could find. In high school Millicent and Helga never attended ball games or concerts, instead they spent their time quilting. The two never had boyfriends or any other type of friends because all they ever wanted to do was quilt!

Millicent and Helga’s love for quilting only grew fonder as they got older. Their passion for quilting never ceased. When Millicent and Helga got word that a famous quilter, Lloyd McSlow, was coming to town they were ecstatic. They drove their spiffy white creeper van (with “QUILTKRAZY” on the license plate) to the closest Wal-Mart to buy tickets and supplies.

After getting tickets and supplies they headed back home to make a complementary welcoming quilt to give to Mr. McSlow. When the quilt was finished, they proceeded to make posters and supporter shirts to wear when they met Lloyd. Millicent and Helga were both very excited about the visit, and as the day came closer they got more and more crazy. When the day finally arrived, they dressed in their supporter apparel and loaded the quilt up in the QUILTKRAZY white creeper van and were off! They chatted excitedly about Lloyd the whole way there. They were the first ones to arrive seeing as they came 5 hours early. They took their front row seats and once again chatted about the handsomely amazing quilter, Lloyd McSlow.

As the time came closer, Millicent and Helga got so excited they started to shake and shiver. Minutes passed by as if they were days. The introduction music started to play and as Lloyd came out from behind like large red curtain, Millicent and Helga jumped and screamed with joy! Lloyd seemed to be even more attractive in person! He sported green and brown quilted pants along with yellow and purple quilted suit top. The ladies thought he looked absolutely stunning. As Lloyd preached about his passion for quilting, Millicent and Helga stared in awe. He was the perfect man for both of them!  As the speech came to a close, they decided they just had to go find him after words and speak to him. Millicent proposed that since Helga was shy, Millicent would speak to Lloyd first. If and when she got a date with Lloyd, she would have Lloyd find Helga the perfect man-quilter for her also! Helga agreed and when the curtain closed the snuck behind it to go find Lloyd.

They found Lloyd in the back corner, engrossed in a beautiful spin wheel quilt. Oh how Millicent loved spin wheel quilts! She walked right up to him and critiqued the quilt. It was love at first sight. They went on a few dates to quilting shows and stuff, but it didn’t take long to know that it was meant to be. They got married a week later and 10 months along came LJ Slow, Lloyd Junior Slow.

At Millicent and Lloyd’s wedding, Helga met Lloyd’s brother, Harold, and they also fell in love. Their love story was pretty much the same as Millicent and Lloyd’s except they waited two weeks to get married. They too had a baby, Quilter McQuilter Slow. Little did they know LJ and Quilter would also share the love for quilting and they too would get married.

Very funny story! I really liked the characters you used and how they got so excited about quilting. Also, I was happy to find out that in the end Helga Betty lived happily ever after too just like her friend.
