Cherry Apple's Lesson To The World

Cherry Apple was a boy who lived in a little town called Rice Krispie. He had been looking forward to his first day of high school for the longest time. Finally that day came and he was ready for what he thought would be the time of his life.

As he pushed open the double doors to Oscar Meyer Weiner Academy his nostrils were filled with the scent of clean floors and the smell of freshly painted walls. As he strolled down the hallway he overheard some girls in his class talking about how much their school name had been made fun over the summer. Cherry had realized quite some time ago that his school name was ridiculous but he had learned to get over. When he finally reached his locker he took a long hard deep breath and silently murmured the words “here we go again.” After unpacking all his books he sat against the wall watching as everyone walked down the hall to their own lockers. He noticed some familiar upper classman’s faces but not all. After quite a long period of time his friends started to show up. After talking with them he realized that he was more nervous then he thought.

Before classes were actually going to start everyone had to attend an assembly in the gym. When he sat down by his best friend Apple Strudel he scanned the crowd for the girl whom he had been crushing on since the fifth grade. Her name was Candy Carmel. She was a sophomore. After a couple of minutes he finally spotted her and smiled. After about five minutes of Cherry staring fiercely at Candy she finally noticed and smiled. He couldn’t imagine his day getting any better then how it already was.

During Cherry’s first hour class he sat by Apple Strudel. Apple and Cherry had been best friends since the two were in second grade. In second grade Cherry thought it was cool that Apple had the same first name as his last name so he figured they were destined to be best friends. Cherry explained to Apple that so far his first day of high school had been the best day of his life. Apple really wasn’t looking forward to hearing Cherry talk about everything that Candy did every second of the day for the next three years, but he didn’t dare say that to Cherry. He figured he might as well let Cherry have his moments because he was the same way when his love Laffy Taffy was in school.

During lunch Cherry was hoping that Candy would sit by him since they finally had the same lunch period together. He didn’t get the chance to sit by Candy but he did get to sit by some seniors. He wasn’t really happy with the seniors who sat by him because they had the reputation of being jerks. As conversation arose between Cherry and the seniors he started to think maybe they hadn’t been scary after all. Finally after a few minutes their true colors had started to kick in. Cherry never thought of himself as a shy person but after some of the questions that had been thrown at him he started to quiet down. Things started to become a little hectic for Cherry.

After sixth hour was over, Cherry worked his way through the crowd to his seventh hour class. He thought he heard people say his name but he wasn’t sure so he thought nothing of it. During seventh hour his cousin Watermelon Jemima whom was a senior explained to him that the whole school was gossiping about what was said between him and the seniors at lunch. Cherry couldn’t believe those senior boys told people that he believed in ghosts. Cherry didn’t think it was a big deal but he certainly didn’t want people to think badly of him for believing in ghosts. He knew it was something that children normally believed in but he couldn’t bring himself to not believe in them.

When the bell of freedom rang at three twenty-five Cherry was excited to go home. His day went from the best day of his life to one of his most dreadful fears, having the whole school make fun of him for his beliefs. When he was done packing everything up at his locker he made his way to the double doors. He hadn’t heard anything more of what people said about his beliefs in ghosts. As he carelessly strolled across the parking lot to Watermelons car he saw a mob of people whispering his name and saying he was a child for believing in ghosts. He had all he could do to not yell at them but he figured he was only a freshman and what he said wouldn’t matter anyway. Cherry took only a minute of the bullies laughing and pointing and then he walked away thinking he didn’t deserve this type of harassment.

Later that night Cherry and his family went over to his cousin Watermelon’s house for supper. He walked around his aunt and uncles house with a sad face hoping no one would notice but he wasn’t very good at hiding his emotions. After supper was over and the dishes were done he sat on the chair and stared into thin air. After awhile Cherry’s aunt came and asked if she could have a conversation with him. Cherry loved his conversations with his Aunt Jemima but he didn’t want to explain his embarrassing situation. Cherry explained what happened at school that day. Jemima informed him that he shouldn’t be afraid to hide what he believes in. Cherry took her words of encouragement to heart and knew exactly what he was going to do on day two of his journey through high school.

Cherry went to school the next day prepared for whatever would be thrown in his way. He strutted down the hall with his held high. He sat settled against the wall waiting for someone to make fun of him about the whole ghost situation. After a couple minutes had passed he witnessed a mob of seniors walking down the hall. He noticed Candy was walking with the group as well. He hoped that the group wouldn’t make fun of him because he didn’t want to be embarrassed in front of Candy. The moment came when one of the guys started pointing and laughing. Cherry stood up and knew this was the moment he had been waiting for. He figured Candy knew everything that was going on so she wouldn’t think any less of him then she already did. Cherry firmly explained he had the right to believe whatever he wanted to. He explained he wasn’t going to let people stand in his way and tell him what he could and couldn’t believe in. Cherry informed them they could make fun of him all they wanted but he wasn’t going to let it bother him. After Cherry’s speech the bullies took a step back and apologized. The seniors couldn’t believe a freshman stood up to them. Cherry’s speech had made a serious impact on them and they vowed they would never bully people again.

That day at lunch Candy came and sat by Cherry. Cherry was extremely happy that she sat by him. He was nervous because he only had ever said one-word words to her before. Cherry and Candy started to engage in a deep conversation. Candy explained to him that he was brave to stick up to seniors like he did. She told Cherry that she had a secret. She to believed in ghosts.

Ever since the day at lunch Cherry and Candy have been inseparable. After Cherry graduated from college the two became married and lived happily ever after. The two to this day still believe in ghosts and take judgment on their beliefs from no one.

Interesting story. I liked how you looked back on things that had happened rather than telling about them when they occurred.
