Clarinet

Black-painted wood shining in the light

Silvery keys smooth to the touch

Wanting to play music

Heading outside

Cattle eating

Stench drifting my way

Turning their heads, staring intently

The noise making was incredible-

To me at least

Cats seem to be dancing around my feet

My sisters coming out

Insisting on having their own turns

Wiping off the reed

My parents smiling

Heading back inside

Playing until sunset

Impressed by my newfound talent

I can see you sitting at the top of your outside steps looking off into the sunset playing your clarinet. I don't know why but it's what I am visualizing. haha :)

Dawn, you did a great job describing in this poem how much you enjoy playing the clarinet. I also thought the line where you said the noise was incredible, at least to you, was really funny.

What a great visual picture of you playing your new clarinet for the cows and the cats. I remember when I first played the clarinet, those animals would have been the only ones that would have been able to stand listening to me!
