Julia Walsh, Alumnus of Valley High School and now attending Loras College, participated in a study abroad program in South Africa in 2001. She generously volunteered to be our "South African Correspondent" while we were doing our Nelson Mandela/South Africa Unit that year. Below are several pictures and comments from Julia's experiences there. Remember, this was in 2001, not many years after the official end of apartheid, so things have changed since then.
