Valley celebrates National Education Week

By: Kenzie N

National Education Week 2009 took place November 15-21. The Valley Community Education Association celebrated with a week of special events to recognize the importance of all who make Valley a great place to live and learn! Special promotions took place each day to recognize the importance of faculty and staff at Valley.

On Monday, Valley School Board members and administrators, Board Secretary and Business Manager were given refreshments of appreciation during the regular November board meeting. Their support of education and their efforts towards making Valley run the best it can is tremendous.

Throughout the week, substitute teachers were recognized for their critical service in providing quality education to children in the temporary absence of regular classroom educators. Each morning certain substitutes were announced over the intercom to all students and faculty with a special reminder to thank them next time they passed them in the hall.

On Wednesday, support professionals were honored for their invaluable services to the school. A thank you and raffle ticket was presented to secretaries, classroom associates, maintenance people, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, and others that support Valley students through their outstanding work and dedication to making school great for every student. VCEA members were also reminded of their professionalism during their regular November meeting on Wednesday evening.

On Friday, the VCEA invited employees of the district, parents, students, and community members to wear red and blue for the day in recognition of American Education Week and in support of the Valley Community Education Association.

Valley is very proud of its outstanding educational system that it has established and withheld throughout the years. The school used National Education Week as a time to celebrate and thank all those who helped make Valley such an outstanding school.
