Tips for keeping your New Year’s resolution

By: Suzanne J

One thing that people really get into after New Year’s Eve is thinking of ideas for a New Year’s resolution. Some people can stick to their resolutions, while others have a hard time keeping them. Keeping a resolution is a big commitment, but it is possible with a little help.

One that is helpful is, to not to choose a resolution you want to make, choose a resolution you need to make. By doing that, it will be easier, because you know that it is important. Staying positive will also help keep those negative thoughts away. Do something that will not make you remember what you gave up. Find a way to keep your mind off what is missing. Doing this will help you focus on other stuff to still keep busy, and make the year go smoother without always thinking about what is missing. Do not make multiple ones you want to make in the same year. That will become overwhelming and you will be more likely to break one or more of them. Do not give up! That is the act of weakness when you want to show strength in staying committed. Encourage yourself and others you know to keep it. Nobody will make fun of you asking for help.

If you decided to make a resolution this year, take time to look over these tips and see if any of them help you to keep it. Resolutions are really easy to break, but if you go into them with the right mindset, you can succeed.
