Valley Community School is privileged to have Mrs. Cyndy Hinton and Ms. Robin Madole as the pillars in our math department. Mrs. Hinton teaches Algebra, Geometry, Advanced Algebra, FST, and Pre- Calc. Ms. Madole teaches Transitional Math, Algebra, and Integrated Math I and II. Both teachers have great knowledge of their disciplines and Valley is very fortunate to have them!
Mrs. Hinton was born on Jan. 25, 1959 in Creston, Iowa. She has three brothers and one sister. Mrs. Hinton went to Lenox High School, which she would like to mention was the 2009 baseball class 1A runner up. In high school Mrs. Hinton participated in cheerleading, chorus, swing choir, drama, madrigal, and band. After high school Mrs. Hinton attended Simpson College, received her Bachelors degree from the University of Northern Iowa, and earned her Masters Degree from the University of Iowa. Mrs. Hinton enjoys playing piano, being in the hand bell choir, motorcycling, and reading. Her favorite movie is Matilda and she loves almost all music. Mrs. Hinton also has a pug named Zoey. She has been teaching for 27 years. Of those 27 years, she has taught 22 years at Valley. Mrs. Hinton teaches math because she enjoys a challenge. She chose to teach at Valley because she wanted to live in this area.
Ms. Madole was born on June 8, 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended Mt. Pleasant High School with her one brother. In high school she participated in swing choir, chorus, band, NHS, golf, basketball, and softball. After high school she attended William Penn University. In college Ms. Madole participated in student senate, golf, softball, and basketball. She enjoys golfing, hunting, coaching, being outdoors, and being a volleyball referee. Her favorite movie is Dances with Wolves and she enjoys all music but she especially likes golden oldies and country. She has one pet, a very spoiled yellow lab. Ms. Madole has been teaching at Valley for 27 years. She chose to teach math because it is important no matter what future plans one may have. Ms. Madole came to Valley because she was coaching at a girl’s basketball camp at William Penn and girls from Valley came to the camp and asked her to apply at Valley.
Valley is very privileged to have Mrs. Hinton and Ms. Madole in the mathematics department. They make learning math fun and realistic. Math at Valley would not be the same without them.
