Parent/teacher conferences held at Valley

By: Megan B

The third quarter is nearing completion at Valley Community School and that means that parent/teacher conferences are just around the corner. Parent/teacher conferences will be held on Mar. 25 and Mar. 30.  Parents will be able to meet with secondary teachers in the multipurpose room on Mar. 25 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. and on Mar. 30 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Elementary school parents will receive a letter in the mail that assigns a time to meet with their child’s teacher.

Parent/teacher conferences may not be everyone’s favorite passtime, but in reality, the conferences are important for all parents. It is a time to receive report cards and have the chance to talk to the child’s teachers in a relaxed atmosphere to get to know how the child is performing in the classroom. If a child is struggling, parent/teacher conferences may be the only time to find a solution to help the child. Parent/teacher conferences are a great time to ask the teachers any questions that may have come up at home or any questions about the grading system. Even if there are no questions that arise with a certain teacher, it is always nice to get to know the teachers because they influence the children every day.

While talking with  teachers during parent/teacher conferences is the most important aspect of the conferences, do not forget to stop by the library for the book fair. The book fair special will be “buy one get one free.” The book fair will be open Mar. 24 through Apr. 1 from 7:30am until 3:00pm. On Mar. 24 and Mar. 30 the book fair will be open until 7:00 pm.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Mar. 25 and Mar. 30 for parent/teacher conferences. Be sure to also stop in the library for the book fair to pick up the great deals.
