Composition—Grammar Lesson

Each of the groups below will be responsible for researching, preparing and presenting a lesson on the part(s) of speech they are assigned.  Their group will be given one entire class period to present their lesson, which is to include the following components:

1) Direct instruction in front of the class and explanation of the terms in a way that the students will understand the meaning (using media and visuals when possible).  Be sure not to rush through important explanations!  Make sure students understand concepts before moving on!

2) Practice worksheets for students to gain further understanding of concepts (give students examples and guide them while they practice the concepts you are teaching).

3) Ten test questions over the information you have presented to be used on the end of the unit test (these should be similar to your worksheet questions, but not the same).  Think about what you want them to know when they are done with your lesson.  Do not make them too easy or too difficult.  Just make sure they measure the students understanding of the lesson you taught.  Part of your grade depends on how well students perform on these questions!

Three class days will be given for groups to prepare their lessons.  Any additional time needed will be on your own to figure out.

Grades will be given for group work and for individual participation.  The performance of your students on their test questions and worksheets will also be considered as well as the strength of your lesson.
