1. I would say my favorite part in Composition would be writing all the different essays. I don't mind writing essays so they didn't really bother me.
2. Well to be honest, I would consider the book work my least favorite. We already went over a lot of stuff before in our school years, but I get that the book work is a must in Composition.
3. I think it improved a lot with all the essays we had to write, and even the Writer's Workshop assignments. Made me a better essay writer I guess.
4. I think that there should be more Writer's Workshop assignments. I really enjoyed writing some random story and I think it would be neat if there were more assignments like these.

2)The first semester test. I don't know if we got enough study material.
3)Yes, my attention to detail has improved along with making my story make a little more sense.
4)I liked composition over all and i really don't think anything needs to change.

1. My favorite part of comp this year was Writers workshop, because it gave me a chance to write about what I wanted to, and also see the work of my peers.
2. My least favorite part was about the year was the combined essays when we had to work with a partner, because I enjoy writing by myself.
3. I improved my grammatical skills, revising and editing skills, and spelling skills.
4. More Writer's Workshop assignments and more applications when doing book lessons.

1. My favorite part of comp. was the writer;s workshop. I liked free writing about any idea that popped into my head.
2. transcendentalist, by far, because it was too confusing and odd.
3. I have learned to think about what i write before i write it, or brainstorm.
4. Eliminate transcendentalist!

1). Watching Pay It Forward, I really liked this movie. I had seen it when I was younger with some of my family, but I didn't realize it until I had started watching it in comp.
2). Doing book work, because I didn't learn anything.
3). My writing has improved because I have learned to use bigger words.
4). No book work.

2. Writing the Transcendental paper that was the worse thing ever!
3. I felt like my spelling and grammar has improved thought out the year.
4. More writers work shop writing because they are fun and easy to do, maybe throw in a couple more excises.

2. The Research Paper. It was very long and boring.
3. I took the pre-writing a little more seriously. My essay was already thought out before I started writing it.

1. Watching the Pay it Forward Movie and doing the essay also.
2. Writing the Transcendentalist paper because it was very difficult and I don't ever want to write that much again.
3. My writing has improved greatly throughout the year because of all the writing we have done, all the work in the composition book has helped me with sentence forms.
4. We should do more Writers Workshop because I enjoy writing about anything I want to.

1) My favorite part of comp. this year was the essays. Writing isn't that difficult when we had all the principles do it.
2) The grammar and book work I wasn't so good at that.
3) Well I now am refreshed on how to write the thesis and state my main idea in my essay while being descriptive at the same time.
4) No grammar work. This is a class of writing so grammar questions in this class are unsatisfactory.

thorat said

1)I think my favorite part was writing for the Writers Workshop. I like the creative side of Comp class.
2) The book work really wasn't helpful. To me, it was mostly repeated stuff from last year. I think if we could have just touched on the important if-you-don't-get-this-right-you'll-fail-college stuff and skipped the hairy details.
3) I have learned that there are in fact some merit to outlines. Before this year, I found the process of outlining pointless, but when doing a large research paper, it is helpful.
4) I would suggest that you rely less on the text book for grammar lessons because they really don't help much with our writing.

4. The writing topics for essay were good, but maybe find some more meaningful ones.

1. Reading
2. Book Lessons, and writing essays.
3. I write with more powerful words than I did at the beginning of the year.
4. Get rid of the book lessons. I did not learn a thing from them.

1. I really liked being able to free read and blog every week. I also liked watching "Pay It Forward".
2. I didn't necessary enjoy the mini-lessons we did.
3. I learned to write papers in a three chapter form, which was challenging. It taught me to use more effective transitions and get straight to the point of my essay.
4. The essay writing topics were okay, but they didn't make me think to deeply. I would recommend more in depth essay props for next year.

brittneyp said

1. Reading or the Writer's workshop.
2. The book lessons and the essays.
3. I am still forming a more defined vocabulary. I also learned more about sentences and word formatting.
4. Keep a more open mind on different ways of teaching harder lessons for next year; some kids learn in different ways.

1) I really enjoyed writer's workshop. In between all my other classes it let me be creative and I feel I improved as a writer.
2) I didn't care for the review of writing mechanics.
3) In my free writing, I eliminated a lot of redundancies.
4) I think this class kept a good pace, but I would cut out the book lessons and have next year's class write more essays. Also, I feel myaccess.com to be an unnecessary tool.

1. I really enjoyed watching Pay It Forward and reading every Wednesday. The break was nice.
2. The book lessons were definitely the most boring, mundane, and monotonous part of Composition.

2. I wasn't a huge fan of the exercises, but they helped my writing out.
3. My writing has gotten better in several ways, but specifically, it has started to flow a lot smoother and it is also better grammatically.
4. I didn't really love myaccess, so maybe not use it as much, but it was a good tool for editing and revising.

1. My favorite parts of Composition this year was writer's workshops, reading, and getting to watch Pay It Forward. They were nice breaks from the crazy junior year, and it was nice to relax.
2. The mini-lessons were not my favorite part. Probably necessary, but not very fun.
3. I think I have learned to edit my work better and cut out unnecessary words and phrases.
4. I definitely think it would be cool to have an "out-loud" book talk instead of commenting on the wiki. I also think there should be at one "free essay." And, since the mini-lessons are probably not going to go away, maybe making a game out of some of the lessons would make them more fun.

1. Writer's Workshop was definitely the best! I loved just writing stories and reading others!
2. My Access
3. My organization scores in My Access went way up from beginning to end. So, I must be organizing my essays better then I had previous years.
4. More lessons. Writing is good but if you don't know how to fix you're writing how are you going to fix it? More lessons that teach good writing technique, multiple ways. Maybe some lessons on college writing...Grant's college English class sounded completely terrifying!

2. The book work, and the US History Essays.

1) I really enjoyed Writers Workshop days-- having time to free write and just let your mind go was nice. It's cool to see feedback from classmates on what you wrote. I also liked some of the different assigned topics we had, it made me think of things I wouldn't normally have considered (i.e., the ways I could be construed as prejudiced for the prejudice essay).
2) It's kind of a love-hate thing with the assigned writings. I generally hate writing "inside of a box" so I didn't like working on a lot of the assigned topics, although I feel I learned something from a few of them in the end. I also wasn't too fond of MyAccess, but it wasn't all bad. It was interesting to see an instant score.
3) New words. I used the "synonyms" function on word a lot to spice up my writing instead of repeating the same old words when making a point. Through the use of the thesaurus, I've expanded my vocabulary.
4) Maybe more writers workshop days? I kind of tired out by all the essays one after another, but I also understand that essay writing is basically what Comp is all about!
