Drill Team camp held at Valley
By Joelle D
On Saturday, Jan. 30, the Valley drill team held a dance camp led by the drill team members. All elementary students were invited to attend. In total, around 30 students participated.
The camp started at 9:30 a.m. with the girls warming up to dances such as, ”The Cupid Shuffle”, “Macarena”, and “I Like to Move It, Move It.” After warming up the girls were put into groups according to their grade. Kindergarten through 3rd graders were one group and 4th through 6th graders were in the other group.
The members of the drill team spent the day teaching the girls a dance they choreographed to the song, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” After an hour of dancing, the girls took a snack break and enjoyed Capri Suns and Little Debbie Snacks. When the snack break ended the girls went back to learning the rest of their dance.
At 12:00 p.m. the parents arrived to pick up their children who were anxious to show them what they had learned. The girls are excited to show off their moves on Saturday, Feb. 6, during the halftime of the boys’ basketball game. Drill Team members say this camp was a success and hope to hold another one.
